Oki / Amba'wastitch / Danit'ada - we are an organization who makes its home in the traditional territories of the peoples of the Treaty 7 region in southern Alberta, which includes the Siksikaitsitapi (ᖹᐟᒧᐧᒣᑯ), known as the Blackfoot Confederacy, and comprises the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Káínawa First Nations; the Tsuut'ina First Nation; and the Îyârhe Nakoda, which comprises the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations.
We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is 'Moh-kíns-tsis' which we now call the city of Calgary. Other names include 'Wincheesh-pah' in Nakoda, 'Kootsisáw' in Tsuut’ina, 'Klincho-tinay-indihay' in Dene, and 'Otos-kwunee' in Cree. The city of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
Founded on the collective goal to enhance, promote and foster the social, economic, cultural and political well-being of Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people within their respective communities and Canadian societies.
